Two acts. One building. Episode One walks the forty-three-year arc of the Saddledome, then hands the microphone to the people who lived it.

Forty-Four Years of Gravitas.
From the first rivet driven in 1981 to the final whistle scheduled for 2026–2027 — the Saddledome's story is Canada's story. Hockey, opera, country, metal, gold medals, broken hearts.

- 1981
The Concrete Dream
July 29 — groundbreaking on Saddledome Rise SE. Construction begins on the world's first large-scale hyperbolic paraboloid roof, a 135-metre saddle of cast concrete designed to echo the spirit of the West.
- 1983
The House Opens
October 15 — Calgary Flames vs. Edmonton Oilers christen the ice. November 25 — The Moody Blues and Stevie Ray Vaughan inaugurate the stage. 20,240 seats. One unmistakable silhouette.
- 1988
The Global Stage
The world's eyes turn to Calgary. Katarina Witt, Brian Orser, and Elizabeth Manley carve gold into Saddledome ice as the Winter Olympics turn an Alberta arena into a global cathedral.
- 2026–2027
The Good-bye
Forty-Four years of gravitas. Say Good-bye to the Dome gathers 44 voices to tell the story of what this building meant — before the silhouette becomes memory.
